As an #EJ advocate and Water Protector I have joined many others in fighting bad bills and supporting good bills. I am lucky enough to have a few like-minded state and congressional reps who are bringing colleagues on-board. I am unlucky enough to live in a state with a GOP-strangled legislature and in a nation with a GOP-destructive.
We know Biden will win the majority of votes. We don't know whether this will be another stolen election. I am counting on overwhelming voter turnout to overwhelm GOP-sponsored manipulation etc..
A Biden-Harris WH administration will be better; this will be our starting point for reconstruction. Here are 2 congressional bills you need get behind, because (without saying so...it's a political thing...) they are the progeny #AOC was saying would be formed from the #GND.
100% Clean Economy Act of 2020 (Haaland, Dingell, et al) sets a climate change foundation for all operations and policies that come from all federal agencies. This litmus test is huge (sets environmental justice among others aspects as required benchmarks) and will effect the standards upon which FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) has been rubberstamping pipelines and PHMSA (Petroleum and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration) has been playing the yes-man to fossil fuel sector and others. THRIVE Agenda (Haaland, Dingell, et al) creates actionable measures to take. Many of us recognize the 2050 is no longer the drop-dead date (it was when work began on this...which demonstrates how quickly climate change is catching up with status quo), yet that can be tweaked. We will have to be vigilant combatting greenwashing as corporate tries to game system--but we actually have a few powerful Congressional Reps working with us!
