Body awareness can be one of your superpowers so that every action you take and every thought you create is empowering. It is empowering because what you do and how you perceive everyday events are wholly aligned with the self.
Yoga Nidra is an exploration and exercise of developing body awareness from the inside out, interoception. This article describes interoception, one of our 7 bodily senses.
YOGA NIDRA
I first encountered this form of yoga in a modern dance class, where the emphasis was on body awareness and not breath for entering the state of being. Yoga Nidra is a trip through ones body focusing on a place and then another place asking the focus for a felt sense of each place.
Yoga Nidra is the art of building focused awareness of ones body part by part. As parts come into focus they are linked to the part that preceded it. Like a paper chain, the first loop is made, and the second loop intersects the first. The third intersects the second and so on.
